Butcher
He walks alone on a diet of dog food
and booze
Supplemented with cigarette butts
plucked
from the ash can down the street from
the cinema.
Begin another day in a bad mood.
Walks across the street in a panic,
Can't see straight but he thinks
he'll manage.
She's driving and talking on her
cell phone,
interrupted by the sound of steel
on bone.
Everybody's got a choice to make.
We're watching time pass by.
Another day another butcher
trying to bleed us dry.
She's only fourteen but its been
an eternity
Since she felt safe and sane in
her own room.
Been twisted up thinking about what
she'd done
And hoping that they would find
out soon.
"Please god grant me a sweet
reprieve"
She wept as she fell to her knees.
"I cannot keep this pain in
me.
"It's weighing down so heavy."
Everybody's got a choice to make.
We're watching time pass by.
Another day another butcher
trying to bleed us dry.
